The Essence of MIT.. [Feb. 21st, 2006|11:55 am]

[mood |amusedamused]

I think this pretty much sums the place up haha. I'm not going there (obviously), but I love the eccentricities of the place.

http://bathroom.mit.edu/

A website that will tell you if the bathrooms in one of the halls are occupied or not. If you browse around on the same site, you'll see that they also created a laundry server (http://laundry.mit.edu/). Haha. :)

So when I applied to the UW, I had a choice of my intended major, and I chose business administration. The UW sent me a letter yesterday telling me that I was invited into the FRAP Program, which basically means I am admitted into the business school my freshman year (I don't have to compete for the major if I don't get kicked out, and this involves keeping above a 3.4, which quite frankly I am a little worried about...), and if I do this program..I get a $1,000 merit scholarship, which is nothing to sneeze at!!!

Yay! [Dec. 20th, 2005|11:38 pm]

So remember how I got facebook before I was supposed to? I got my admissions info before I was supposed to as well. My MyUW status (online home for UW students/prospective students) today changed to this under "Check your application status":

Your application has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available.

I figured this meant " acceptance/denial letter time" soon. I asked online in the UW LJif there was more to the review process or if it was all done or what, just being curious. Got some "just wait 5 months geez OBVIOUSLY"...but I got some really helpful stuff too. The most helpful being that I could click on a different tab under a different section (going first to the "Students" tab on the side then clicking on "Unofficial Transcript"). This helpful LJ soul told me that, if I were accepted, something would show up there. I got the following:

Unofficial Transcript Prepared for: xxxxxxx
Date prepared: December 20, 2005
Time prepared: 22:08:37
Printer-Friendly Version

Student No
xxxxxxx
Birth Date
xxxxxxxxx
Class
FRESHMAN
College Major
Arts & Sciences
Status
PRE MAJOR (A&S)

I put xxxxes for senstive information...but..the main thing is the line "ADMITTED FOR AUTUMN, 2006." UW, here I come. Kind of makes the letter a "meh" affair, but yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

"Your application was given an initial review, and a final admission decision is pending." @ UW :) [Dec. 13th, 2005|02:39 pm]

Sadly, I don't think that means I'm nearly as close as it sounds. :( I figure it's like "Well...we looked at your application. (Abnormally long pause).......yup." Haha. But it is progress, as opposed to yesterday when it was (basically) "We haven't even looked at it."

But...que exciting. :)

To everyone who wants me to fill out that little survey about you, I promise I am gonna soooon. I am on a weird sleep schedule which make things hard to get done. I get home from school, play video games/check email/whatever...then it's dinner time. Then I randomly fall asleep, starting anywhere from 5:00-7:00ish and lasting an hour or. Then it's homework time yay as I burn up most of my night sleeping. Mmmm sleep. So anyways, the whole point of this is..that I haven't forget about you all. And that I hate unpredictable napping.

1. I'll respond with a random memory involving you.
2. I'll tell you what movie/song/book reminds me of you.
3. I'll recommend a movie that I think you will like.
4. I'll associate you with an animal and explain why.
5. I'll tell you my first impression of you.
6. I'll tell you what I first knew you as.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you should post this on your journal.

My idea! [Sep. 20th, 2005|10:23 pm]
Jason
So I was watching the news today And they had a little story about how it is now possible to tell what someone is typing by listening to the noise that people make on a keyboard when they type. I absolutely swear I had this idea like a year ago. No one will believe me because I never wrote it anywhere obviously...but how it is TRUE.

It really wouldn't even be that hard. My system would have maybe even been more accurate. I had this idea where you have someone write you an email. You record the noises made and feed them into the program (corresponding it to the message) and it creates an individual profile, because each person types a little differently. It would be even MORE accurate than the program now developed by these computer scientists.

So I didn't have the actual means to make this HAPPEN, but I had the idea. Seriously. The next time I have a great idea like this, I am gonna write it down in this LJ. I tell you what. This entry might not make much sense at all...I will edit for clarity later. but aye. How it is important!
